OOTD-Floral Frenzy

 Trousers- TK Maxx
Tee- River Island
Shoes- Vans
Sunglasses- Ray-Ban knock offs from holidays (has to be done!)
I'm not a huge fan of summer dressing, but I'm making an effort to embrace these sunshine filled days (you can be sure they'll end as soon as exams are overs!). I was delighted to have a chance to finally sport these cropped floral trousers I nabbed for €2 in TK Maxx- they're a size too big, but the extra room makes them all the more comfortable! They're light and airy, which makes them the perfect pants for strolling around in...plus, the print is super cute :)
This River Island tee is my faaavourite top to throw on- I wear it far too much! Yes, the slogan may be slightly cheesy, but I can't get enough of the ghoulish font and the fact that it's pink. It's a pretty casual look overall, but I much prefer to have loose fitting, comfy clothes on when it's hot out- there's nothing worse than feeling like your clothes are stuck to you! Bleeugh.

Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick 04 Review

I've been dying to write a blog post on this particular Kate Moss for Rimmel lippy for absolutely ages now- it has quickly become my new favourite lipstick and I can't rave enough about it!
It's in the shade 04 and as you can tell from the photos, it's a beautiful, deep plum colour. It seems quite intimidating at first, but I just love how bold and brilliant this colour is :) Obviously this lippy isn't going to be to everyone's liking, but one of the things I love about it is that you can apply it nice and heavily to create a very daring look, or opt for slightly more subtle look by dabbing a small amount onto the lips and gently rubbing it in. What's more, it works brilliantly when mixed with other colours too! I like to combine it with Lasting Finish by Kate in no.111 which is a gorgeous true red colour- the result is a beautiful dark, vampy red which is just to die for.
As the name suggests, this lipstick truly is long lasting, and it has a great creamy consistency that doesn't dry out the lips at all. This is a brilliant lipstick to wear when you want your makeup to do the talking- it will give any outfit an instant edge and a touch of glamour. Oh, and another bonus...it smells delicious!
I'm a huge fan of Rimmel's lipsticks and considering how reasonably priced they are, you really can't go wrong! I'm obsessed :)

OOTD- Here Comes The Sun

Disco Pants- Penneys (Primark)
Sunglasses- Betsey Johnson
Cross Necklace- Miss Selfridge
Spiked Necklace- Penneys
Cardigan- DKNY Jeans
Boots- Dr.Martens
Top- Penneys
Hat- H&M

Well, well, well, it seems the sun has made an appearance at last :) As you can see, I'm finding it difficult to part with my black clothing and embrace the summer, but it sure was nice to have a reason to dig out my sunnies from the bottom of my drawer (even if just for one day!). It also gave me an excuse to wear something light and airy, like my new top from Penneys. I'm a sucker for anything with a nice back detail, so when I nabbed this little gem for a EURO I was absolutely delighted with myself.
I've also been loving my spiked necklace from the same store- infact, I've barely left it off me since snatching it up for a fiver a few weeks ago. Despite the fact that I'm donning quite a few Penneys pieces today, it's not a shop I often buy from, but I must say I'm very impressed with their stock as of late!
On another note, I went to see The Great Gatsby today. Yes, I crazily decided to go sit in a dark room for a few hours on the sunniest day Ireland has seen in God knows how long! Anyways, I have been waiting for what seems like an eternity to see it so I was extremely excited to see if it would live up to my expectations. I haven't read the book yet, but I adore the 70's adaptation with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. I thought I would be put off by the modern music in this version (nothing beats a good Charleston), but it fit in surprisingly well. The acting was great- Toby McGuire was the perfect choice for Nick, and  Leo was a far better Gatsby than Redford, who was pretty bland if you ask me. None the less, I still didn't find myself being drawn in to the movie in the same way I was with the 70's version. Nothing beats the original I guess! Or maybe I just have an attachment to that film after I visited Gatsby's mansion on a holiday to Newport..How cool is that?? I suppose I'm just a classic girl at heart :)
I could ramble all night about what I thought about it, but I'll just finish by saying that although it didn't have the same authenticity as the original, I'd highly recommend going to see it. If nothing else, you'll get to see Leo and Toby in 3D..nooothing wrong with that ;)

Lusting Over...

Untitled #8

1. MAC Lipstick in Candy Yum Yum- temptalia.com
2. MOTO Bleach Long Leg Dungarees- €85 Topshop
3. Polka Dot Cap Sleeve Crop Top- €19 River Island
4. Neon Link Necklace- €31 Juicy Couture
5. Monochrome Open Toe Boots- €30 H&M
6. Nena Peter Neon Yellow Python Box Bag- €370 avenue32.com

There has always been a special place in my heart for dungarees ever since I stepped into my first pair of Osh Kosh B'Gosh dungarees as a teeny tot, so you can imagine how thrilled I am now that they're having a comeback! They're definitely not to everyone's liking, but I happen to think they're pretty darn great and I am loving these light denim Topshop ones. Although this post was supposed to focus mainly on the dungarees, I find myself being more drawn to the accessories...I mean, how freakin' amazing are those H&M boots? And for a mere €30??
I know I'm just a tad late hopping on the neon band waggon, but seeing as it's not going away any time soon I thought I'd include this fabulous neon chain link necklace from Juicy Couture when styling up my new favourite dungarees. I think the price is pretty reasonable for such a great piece (it's on sale, so if you're liking it you'd better snatch it up pronto!). And yes, I realise that I will never in a million years be able to afford to pay €370 for a tiny little box bag, but this is a lust list after all...and a girl can dream :)

Back In Action- A Fashion Design Sneak Peek

I really am ashamed at how long it's been since my last blog post! I've felt terrible about neglecting my little blog for such a long time, but college really has taken over my life during the past few months. Thankfully, summer is here at last so I'll have a lot more free time to get back into the swing of things as far as my blog is concerned. I thought I'd quickly fill you in on what I've been up to with college work, so that maybe you'll have a better understanding of why I've been M.I.A for what seems like forever!
So firstly, I am officially a Fashion Design student at Limerick School of Art and Design! It was a massive achievement for me to be accepted into the course, as it's hugely competitive  and there was a great deal of students who didn't manage to get in. I had to do an extremely intensive two week design project to compete for my place, which had me working consistently from the crack of dawn until all hours of the night...We were all a bit loopy by the end of it, I won't lie!
Since being accepted into the course, I've been working on fabric manipulation projects, researching an endless list of fabulous designers, and most recently, working on the design of my very first skirt! It was quite a long process to get the finished result(don't worry, I won't bore you with all the details), but basically, I had to produce a fabric board, a mood board, and an illustration board which would help me to make my skirt. Here's what I came up with!
The brief asked that the project stick to a black and white colour palette, and my particular project was inspired by ruins and decrepit, run down buildings. I used an irregular, messy brickwork pattern for my skirt which I machine stitched all over my chosen fabric. Obviously, it's not your everyday kinda skirt..No doubt, it will hang in my wardrobe untouched forever more haha! Anyway, I was pleased with the results considering I've never made any type of proper garment before now. Here's a look at the front back and sides :) Oh, and apologies for the poor quality photos...my DSLR went walkabout just when I needed it!

Hopefully I can make some slightly more wearable clothes for myself now that I've figured out how to use the sewing machine without stabbing myself with the needle! Fingers crossed :)
