Outfit Of The Day

Just a quick post to show you yesterday's outfit, as I haven't had the chance to upload any OOTD posts in aaaages. Most people are sickened by all this cold weather we've been getting lately, but I LOVE IT :) My friends and family are disgusted with me when I tell them that I hate the sun, but I honestly don't think there's anything better than getting all bundled up under layers upon layers of clothing and heading out into the lovely cold, crisp winter air (I realise it's still Autumn but it sure as hell feels like winter these days!). This weekend was cold enough for a bit of layering, but I won't be happy until I've got the works-coat, hat, scarf and gloves! Not long now :)
Anyway, yesterday's outfit consisted of my hot pink Zara mini skirt, my distressed pink Vans (which have barely left my feet since I bought them, I might add), an old Urban Outfitters cardigan and a leopard print crop top I recently nabbed for a fiver in TK Maxx. Last but not least is my jacket which is by a brand called Dollhouse. Hope you like!

Gig Photos (With My Beloved New Camera)

Heeey guys! I just remembered about these gig photos that I snapped the other week so I thought I'd share them with you :) I recently joined the DSLR club (yay) and invested in the Nikon D3100, which I'm loooving so far. I'm still fiddling around with it a lot and getting used to the features, so the boys got to be my test dummies for the night ;)
On another note, I'm having some trouble with the colour settings on my laptop, which I wasn't even aware of until I used my family computer and discovered that a bunch of my photos were distorted and over-saturated :( So if you've noticed that some of my photos look dreadfully edited, I apologise, as on my laptop they've always appeared just fine! Has anybody else ever had a similar problem? I shall have to get my Dad to try sort it, because it's driving me mad that I'm not seeing my blog as everyone else sees it. Ugh!

Sugar Skull Make Up Idea

Hello everybody! I've been M.I.A over the past week as I've had a pretty hectic time moving down to Limerick and settling into college. I can tell from the amount of work I've already been assigned that blogging may have to take the backseat for a while (boo), but I've managed to find a way to incorporate it into my current art project...for today at least!
So I was trying out some Day of the Dead/Sugar Skull style make up, and this is what I came up with. Not exactly your everyday kind of look, but I figured this would make a great Halloween costume idea? I did the look using just black pencil eye liner and a dark red lippie, so if it looks a tad sloppy, that's why! I'm definitely going to buy myself some face paint so I can perfect this make up look just in time for Halloween. What do you guys think? :)

Animal Photography- Dublin Zoo

Yesterday I visited Dublin Zoo and as you can see, I went a bit mad with my camera. I am aware that this post has nothing whatsoever to do with fashion, but I do not care because these animals are awesome and I just had to share them with you all! Can somebody buy me a pet tiger, pretty please?

Tuesday, 4 September 2012 The Future Of Online Shopping

Last week I got a very exciting e-mail from the people at Mallzee, a brand new online shopping website that's due to open later this year. I'll be honest, I'm not usually the biggest fan of online shopping. I'm a girl who loves to spend hours in the fitting room trying on a million different things, so I've never really seen the appeal of shopping from your living room. Where's the fun in that? But I think Mallzee may have swayed me by giving me a sneak peek to their completely innovative and unique approach to online shopping. Basically the website works like this:

There are already over 200 brands signed up to Mallzee, including Urban Outfitters (need I say any more?), New Look, St. Tropez and many more. Users then create their own personal shopping mall (Mallzee) by choosing their favourite products from these brands and shops. All seems pretty straight forward right? Here's where it gets interesting.
There's a social aspect to the website in that people can invite their friends to visit their "Mallzee" through Facebook. Their friends can then star the products that they like, purchase the items themselves at discount prices, and even vote on polls created by the user to help them decide what to buy! I think that's pretty darn cool. I started to imagine how amazing it would be if really took off, and celebrities began using the site. Then ordinary people like me and you could shop clothing that's literally been hand picked by our favourite celebs and fashion icons! How fab would that be?
Ok, so if you're not already convinced by now, I'll let you in on the best bit. Every time someone purchases something from your own personal mall, you receive money! Yes you heard me correctly, you get paid every time your friends shop! I don't know about you, but that sounds like something I could definitely get on board with.

So right now, the people at Mallzee are really eager to get the word out about this fabulous new website. You can sign up to the site here and if you help them spread the word on Facebook and Twitter you'll be entered into a draw to win lots of goodies, including a £100/$155 shopping voucher....Well, what are you waiting for? :)

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream Review

I have to admit, all the hype about BB creams these days has really got me curious, so I've decided to hop on the band waggon and see what all the fuss is about!
I've wanted to get my hands on a BB cream for quite a while now, mainly because I'm really trying to improve my skin at the moment, so I thought it would make a nice, light alternative to wearing foundation all the time. Now I'm not one of those people who's terrified to leave the house without their make up on, and if it's a case where I'm popping down to the shop or walking home from a friends house, I certainly don't feel the need to reach for my make up bag! But with that being said, I am in no way happy with how my skin looks au natural, and sadly I've come to the realisation that I'm just one of those girls who's always gonna need a little help! That's where the BB cream comes in ;)
Up until recently, I never really paid attention to my skin and I never bothered too much about exfoliating or any of that malarkey! But I'm starting to become more conscious of how my skin looks and feels and I'm really trying to keep it in good nick. Maybe it's because my boyfriend used his "oldify" app on me and I am now in absolute fear that I'm going to look like this 50 years down the line!
Haha, petrifying isn't it? Anyway, I feel like my skin is finally at a place where I don't have to worry too much about blemishes and spots, so I can get away with using something slightly less heavy than foundation.
For those of you who don't know what BB cream is, it stands for Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm, and it's basically a tinted moisturiser with some added benefits! I took my time when choosing which brand I wanted to go for, but eventually I decided on Maybelline. This was primarily because most of the other brands' "light" coloured creams were still far too dark for my skin, whereas Maybelline's was a great match! Also, Boots are currently offering 3 for 2 on all Maybelline products so I snatched up a primer and mascara as well.
I've used the cream a couple of times already, and I must say I'm very impressed with it! It's easy to apply, it blends in perfectly with my skin tone and it gives my face a beautifully silky smooth feeling (almost like a primer). It claims to "blur imperfections", and while that is true to some extent, I still need to apply a touch of concealer on afterwards if I want a flawless finish, as the cream just doesn't have enough coverage to hide my blemishes. I also use  some powder on my face after applying the BB cream, which gets rid of the majority of shininess without drying out my face, and I've still got a lovely dewy glow and that wonderful smooth feeling.
My skin has felt really nourished lately, and I know a lot of that is due to the fact that I've been slathering on the moisturiser these days, but I do think some of it is down to the BB cream. It's great to have an alternative for foundation on those days where I want to look nice without the effort of a full face of make up! I'm officially converted. Yay for BB creams :)
This is me wearing Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB cream, and as you can see it gives you a lovely natural looking finish.
Maybelline are actually offering free samples to anybody living in the UK and Ireland, so if you want to test it out before buying you can sign up for your samples here
Although, the cream only costs €10 and it's really, really great so I don't think that's necessary!

Traditional Tattoo Flash- Artwork

Hello folks! Just a little post to show you all some of the drawings I've been working on :) None of the designs are mine, I copied these pictures from actual tattoos that I really loved as a way of practising this particular style of art. My favourite is the Russian doll, it's sooo pretty!

So I'll be heading off to college in just over a week (where has the time gone??) and I just got bombarded with a huge list of supplies I need to buy before I start :( Good thing I just got paid because art materials don't come cheap! So if anybody knows of any reasonably priced art shops around Kildare or Dublin please feel free to let me know, I'd really appreciate it.

On a happier note, I'm heading out tonight for my birthday celebrations and I have the most fabulous leather peplum dress to show off ;) Can't wait!
